Where will the plant be built?

The plant will in built at the Seneca Army Depot in the Town of Romulus. Initially it will be built on 362 acres inside the depot. The plant footprint is on less than 40 acres, which is less than 1% of the total land base of the depot. Outlined in yellow is the utility corridor. Green represents the 362 acres. The plant footprint is shown in orange. Empire Green Biofuels has an option to purchase an additional 4500 acres (outline in red) after the ethanol plant is substantially completed.

What will be the economic impact of the plant on the local community?

The project capital investment is estimated at $115 million with projected annual sales exceeding $90 million. Over 300 short-term (one year) construction jobs will be created. The project will create 75 direct jobs and with in five years will employ up to 150 Finger Lakes region residents. The new market for local farmers will stimulate the rural economy of the region and provide opportunities for all areas of agriculture in the region.

How will the wildlife on the depot be managed?

The Seneca County IDA is contracting with Cornell to develop a wildlife management plan, with input from interested parties. Empire Green Biofuels will abide by the findings and recommendations of the plan, and implementation by Empire Green Biofuels will be assessed on an ongoing basis.
